Paladin Tanking Empty
PostSubject: Paladin Tanking   Paladin Tanking Icon_minitimeSun Oct 05, 2008 8:00 pm

As we all know one of the best ways to have a good group is to have a good tank, on this issue i will put up for a paladin's tanking tactics, if you have any you would like to share or to add just post it in.

Ok first off these are the Talant build i would sujest to any paladin tank leveling or going to do groups, but i will say your dps is shockingly bad so have a dps set rdy.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0505000000000000000005005133503021520215010520000000000000000000

ok with the right set up of talants we can begin the tactics for tanking as a Paladin.

Ok first off dont be afraid to tell the dps to not attack untill the first tic of concrecration has stopped but some ppl dont listen so be ready to take agro of them. Second allways have Righteous Fury active as this with the improved verson u gain 90% more threat with holy damage. So normaly with concercration at level 70 does about 95 damage per tick, so this would give 95 threat per mob under concercration but with the extra 90% you gain about 84.5 more giving you 179.5 threat every tick. Now for the buffs you want to give all the dps Salvation it reduced their threat by 30% dont worry if they complain no matterwhat u do u will annoy ppl it's the rule of thumb but if they get to hit things and not die it's all good in the end, Also you either want Blessings of kings or Blessings of Sanctuary as this gives more holy damage so more threat every time u block.. Ok now for the atatck based holy damage i usually use Seal of Righteousness as this allways deals holy damage as the other one that stacks does not it is random if it is cast on the mob so it is not as reliable. Also if u can judement Crusader first so more holy damage, then judgement Righteousness when it gets to below 10 seconds or as often as you can if u get agro hungry dps.
For the pulls you want to use Avengures shield it's a range spell it slows the targets down and does threat so if the dps do start to attack u got a bit of time to rescue them. Also go round a courner so if there are any casters or range they come to you, put a concercration down so were u fight u will gain more agro, try to keep them in the area or it will be a waste of mana.

I think that is every thing but if i have missed anything out let me know and i will add to this.

Paladin Tanking Empty
PostSubject: Step by step   Paladin Tanking Icon_minitimeTue Oct 07, 2008 8:16 pm

Ok the last post was a bit confusing for some people so they asked if i made i simpler and ofc the carebear i am i agreed to making it simpler and to put it into a step by step guide it will be broken down into 3 groups: "Before pull" i will describe what a paladin tank does to prepare for the pull and the fight ahead as well as buffs judgements and seals needed. "During the fight" More indepth description on what moves to do in the fight. "After the fight" this will link up with the Before pull so it will make things easier and faster for the group.

Ok so lets begin with the talant tree (you can fiddle around with it to what you use more often but this is the basic build and what i use for my paladin tank.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?tal=0505000000000000000005005133503021520215010520000000000000000000

Follow this link and it will show you the talant build or were to spend your talant points.

"Before the pull"

Ok this could be the first pull in the instance or the last it s very simple to prepare and very eaasy to over look something so during the fight you will need to waste mana to get ready which is not recomended but sometimes it is nessacary, the fewer times you miss putting a buff on the better.

Ok the following buffs you need to put on to your self before you do anything else (but if u need mana, get it before hand, but if u can get away with not getting mana and buffing up do so as it lowers the cost for replacing the mana drinks). Ok the following buffs are:
Righteous Fury
Greater Blessings of Kings / Sanctuary (either but Sanctuary is recomended but up to you)
Retrbution aura
Seal of Righteouseness (just before you pull any mobs to save mana)
Concercration (in the mobs path and were u are planning to fight)

Ok that is your buffs sorted here are what is recommended to put on the following team members:
Healers: either Greater Blessing of Salvation, or Greater Blessing of Wisdom, wisdom is prefered but if the healers keep getting agro put salvation on them.
Mage dps: Again either Salvation or Wisdom (both greater) Salvation is recommended for them but if you feel you can keep the agro from them use Wisdom.
Melle dps: Salvation unless you feel you can keep the agro then depending on the dps type e.g. shamans use magic to help their melle dps. Either Might, kings or wisdom. Kings is prefered but it is up to you.

At this point you can ask the dps to not attack the mobs before you get agro as you cannot gain agro as quickly as a warrior or druid but u can gain agro on more mobs because of the aoe.

"During the fight"
Ok here are the spells you should use while fighting any mob (try to get a feel for their cool downs so you dont need to waste time looking down and waiting for the spell to cool and try to rotate them so when one has finished colling down the other one is ready to use i will put a * and a number next to the spell to help you figure the spells out.):
Concercration *1
Avengures shield *2 (use as the range pull of any mobs unless u may draw more than 1 group of mobs)
Seal of righteousness
Judement of Righteouseness *3
Judement of the Crusader (use on as many of the mobs as u can to increases the holy damage on the mobs so more threat)
Righteouse Defence (use this when any of your party gets agro it is a taunt and draws up to 3 targets back to you)

There are only 3 spells to work with on the continues cycles on every pull and during the fight, At the end of the fight when the mobs have 10% hp or lower do not use Avengues shield it will just eat your mana more and you dont need as much agro at this point in the fight, but again it is up to you. If a mob starts to run stun it with Hammer of Judement to help the dps kill it and to stop more mobs coming into the fight.

"After the pull"

When you have killed all of the mobs you will need to gain you mana back unless you have more than 50% of your mana if u have less than 40% drink couse u may run out of mana at the end of the next fight or close to it and u cannot save people. Refer to "Before you pull" section for the next one only rebuff people when they die but dont use the Greater blessing use the 10 min version untill other people are running out of the greater blessings.

Ok i hope this time i have nailed the head on the paladin tanking and made it much clearer. Any probs u know were to find me.
